Situated close on the edge of the small hamlet of Poughill, in the heart of the tourist-free Mid-Devon countryside, the Barton is a small family run farm.  Our land is grazed by a small herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle and a handful of friendly sheep along with chickens and one or two pigs.  Home reared meat is usually available on the farm.  

We offer a choice of two truly unique spacious cottages, The Barton Granary and Brimbles, both converted from Grade II Listed barns, comfortably furnished and well-equipped.  We are able to offer the added attraction of a small indoor heated swimming pool which is available all year round.

Poughill makes an ideal base for exploring Devon, halfway between Exmoor and Dartmoor and halfway between the coasts! Golf, fishing and riding are all within easy reach and several National Trust properties and other attractions are nearby.  Many of our guests return time and again to enjoy the peace and quiet, the space and dark night skies.
