Grade II listed former granary

The Granary was converted from a Grade II listed Georgian grain store and threshing barn. It is at the top of the farmyard with views towards the village and across fields from the fenced garden and private terrace.

It’s sited directly opposite the play area; very convenient if you need to keep an eye on little ones!

Where possible, we’ve retained much of the original character of the building with the old horse engine, once used for moving grain, preserved as a striking feature in the sitting-room and we’ve preserved the original beams and stone walls throughout the property.

We stayed for a long weekend in April for a hen do and it was fantastic! Lots of space for our dance class and afternoon tea! Anne kindly put two long tables together for us. Very comfortable with lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchens were perfect for catering for big numbers. Anne and Phil were very welcoming and accommodating! Very relaxing space. The swimming pool was great too! Thanks for having us, would definitely recommend! X

We stayed at the Barton Granary. The houses were both immaculate, so well equipped and absolutely perfect to host all 18 of us. We wished we could have stayed longer! We had a fantastic time, and we're able to adapt our plans easily due to the flexibility of the houses.
The area was beautiful and so quiet! You also didn't feel as though you were disturbing anyone if you made some noise yourself! I would definitely return here, and will be recommending it to friends!

Amazing!! Have had a couple of yoga retreats here and both times enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the area and the place itself. Beautiful accomodation to stay in with everything you need at hand. Lovely swimmimg pool! We had meals included which were all homemade by Anne the owner! Wow!! What an amazing chef!! International and british dishes which included vegan and vegeterian. Everything was catered for perfectly. Will definitely be going back!!

Both cottages were so well equipped. We were a party of 20 and at no time did we feel cramped when we were all together in one cottage. The Pig Shed was absolutely great as it did get a little breezy in the evening, but because of the shelter the pig shed provided it meant we could all still sit outside for our BBQ. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the pool and it was plenty big enough. Would definitely recommend.

Situated on the edge of the small hamlet of Poughill, in the heart of the tourist-free Mid-Devon countryside, the Barton is a small family run farm. Our land is grazed by a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle and we have few sheep and chickens running around the place.
